Ponte’s Auto Care is a family run business that has been serving the Wilmington area since 1968. Jim’s Father opened his First Auto repair shop in Philadelphia in the late fifties all along knowing that one day he would return to his home in Delaware. In the mid sixties he finally returned to his roots and opened shop in Wilmington where Jim started his automotive career attending automotive technical schools and honing his skills, all the while being mentored by his father. When his father fell ill and was no longer able to operate the business, Jim took over and moved the shop to the concord pike.
Ponte’s opened the 2530 Concord Pike location in 1984 and has been associated with Shell Oil Company since 1985. Over the years the facility has been renovated several times, most recently in 1998 when a new customer waiting area, service counter, and canopy were added and the snack shop was expanded.
In 2002, the Ponte’s acquired the former Sunoco building at 2401 Concord Pike and spent the summer renovating the facility. After several months of rebuilding, the new state of the art facility opened in early September leaving the gasoline business behind.
Our service department works on all makes and models and specializes in complete automotive diagnostics & repairs, and also routine vehicle maintenance. Ponte’s is an authorized AAA and AC Delco repair facility as well as a Delaware certified emission repair facility.
Our 5 service bays contain the latest automotive diagnostic and repair equipment and our computer system provides our staff with technical data and service requirements for all makes and model vehicles.
Our waiting area gives customers a comfortable environment to enjoy while at Ponte’s.
The service counter is open until 6PM for vehicle pickup and drop off. Also for your convenience we have after hour drop off.
Ponte’s staff consists of 8 full and part-time employees. Owner Jim & Denise Ponte believe in quality service and maintain a top-notch staff to meet the needs of his customers.
