PCV Valve Service at PONTE'S AUTOCARE in Wilmington

Today, we are talking about your PCV valve. Unburnt fuel is forced into the crankcase as your engine runs.  The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve vents this unburnt fuel and oil vapors from the crankcase and sends it back into the air intake system to be burned in the engine.  A clogged PCV will not allow these vapors to escape. This can dilute and contaminate the oil, leading to damaging engine oil sludge. It can also cause vehicle engine corrosion, something we see occasionally at PONTE'S AUTOCARE. At high speeds on Delaware freeways, the pressure can build up to the point that gaskets and seals start to leak. Back in the old days, vehicles were simply installed with a hose that vented these gases out into the atmosphere. Fuel Saving Tip: Slow Down Around Wilmington

There's not much we can do about the price of gas in Wilmington, Delaware, but we do quite a bit about how much we use as we're driving on our Wilmington streets. Our driving habits can dramatically affect our fuel economy. The first thing we can do is watch the 'go-pedal.' Hard acceleration just sucks the gas. Gently leave stop lights and plan lane changes so you don't need to floor it. That can save you hundreds of dollars a year.Go a little slower on the freeway. Once you're going more than 65 miles an hour (105 kilometers per hour), your fuel economy starts to drop dramatically. Leave early so you don't need to rush to be on time. And cruise control is your friend – steady speed uses less gas.Plan errands ahead. Make fewer trips by combining errands.Hey at current gas prices, a lead-foot might as well be a gold foot. Nighttime driving has the effect of reducing 20/20 vision to the equivalent of 20/50 vision. What you could clearly see at 50 feet in daylight can't be seen until you are just 20 feet away at night.Too make sure your headlights are giving you the greatest visibility, visit us at PONTE'S AUTOCARE, located at 2401 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 19803. Please give us a call to make an appointment: 302-478-9786.Accident avoidance is dependent on reaction time. Reaction time deteriorates measurably in low light conditions.
